Reds legend Joey Votto has been with the Cincinatti team for his entire 16-year MLB career, but he could have played his last game at Great American Ball Park.
The Reds could not have given Votto a better curtain call with a 4-2 win against the Pirates last night.
The Reds have an 80-77 season and sit just behind second placed divisional rivals the Cubs in the NL Central.
Votto has hit 356 home runs for the Reds, while averaging .295 with the bat, and 2,128 hits.
He is a six-time All-Star and NL MVP in 2010, the same season he won the Hank Aaron Award.
The Reds selected Votto in the 44th overall pick in 2002, straight out of high school. After five seasons in the minors he made the step up to the majors in 2007 and has not looked back.
He will have many sweet memories, winning the NL Central Division title in 2010 and 2012, and a wildcard berth in 2013 as well as 2020.
They need to win the rest of their games to stand a fighting chance of booking the final playoff position in the National League.
They will play the Guardians before a triple header away to the Cardinals.
The final five games will be pivotal for the Cincinati team.
