The Miami Dolphins fell just three points short of the all-time record for the highest-scoring game in regular-season NFL history.
The Dolphins’ 70-20 win over the Denver Broncos was the second-highest scoring performance in NFL history, eclipsing the 41 points put up by the New York Giants in the Redskins’ record-setting game in 1966.
When questioned about the Dolphins’ decision to ease up on scoring, Tua Tagovailoa conveyed a sense of sportsmanship, stating that they did not want to humiliate other teams.

For Broncos Head Coach Sean Payton, this game was a series of disappointments.
Not only did his team face an overwhelming defeat, but backup quarterback Mike White even managed to score a touchdown against his defense.
Payton has been critical of previous coaching regimes, but his team’s inability to prevent the Dolphins from scoring 70 points and achieving over 700 yards raise questions about the team’s overall performance.
It would come as no surprise if the Dolphins replicate similar performances throughout the season, scoring 50 points or more in upcoming games.
