Raiders fans have reacted on social media both negatively and positively, with one side of the fence hoping that star tight end Chandler Jones is taking all necessary precautions after stories emerged of him being released from a mental health facility.
Many fans are saying his story does not add up, and it can be hard to argue as the matter is becoming complex, and well, more confusing than Zach Wilson’s playbook.
To be honest, the story does a bit far-fetched, especially concerning such a high-profile football star, and has elements that the NFL league owners would frown upon.
Jones claims he was taken to a mental health facility against his will and was injected with an unknown substance. He further claims, all via social media, that he was denied a bed, was cornered by between 5-7 people, and had all communication devices confiscated.
This sounds like the plot to One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, but stranger things have happened, ask Britney Spears.
He has said he was a victim of hackers, but there is more to this than meets the eye.
@KaananpaliRaider said, “Can’t pretend I have any idea what this is all about, but just wishing you well.
Another social media user, @letubana says, “Not everyone that goes to the mental hospital is unhealthy, I believe #ChandlerJones.”
Some fans reacted with typical internet humor, @raidermatzz says, “Hope you good fam. Raiders been giving me mental problems and I ain’t on the team.
Some have called his account a little one-sided; @mrrydogs says, “The fire department doesn’t take people out of their homes. You’re definitely missing details.
Some correctly asked, “So how were you tweeting that stuff.” And another said, “Had no communication but still able to call?
The response by fans have been as mixed as the story.
Jones has been put on the non-football illness list last week, ruling him out for a sustained period.
The younger brother of legendary UFC fighter Jon Bones Jones went on a disturbing social media (x) rant last week saying that Rai9ders owner Mark Davis was protecting the person who allegedly ‘abused’ his goddaughter.
After an explosive series of tweets, Jones insists he was taken against his will to the Seven Hills Behavorial Health Hospital, where he was forced to take more ‘meds’ and ‘injections.
“I’m still confused as to what I did wrong,” Jones said, adding he is “very sane”.
During his stay at the hospital, which Jones confirms was not voluntarily he made some serious allegations towards GM Dave Ziegler.
The defensive end is a former Superbowl Champion, a two-time First-Team All-Pro and a four-time Pro-Bowler.
He was drafted in the first round, (21st) overall pick by the Patriots and spent four years there before five years at the Cardinals and finally a move to the Raiders in 2022.
Some of the issues apparently started on 5 September, when Jones said he did not want to play for the Raiders after being locked out of the Raiders training facility (according to his Instagram account).
Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels said at the time that Jones was dealing with a private matter, and personal situation.
That has escalated very fast, and it seems after the latest round of salvos this could be the last season he plays for the Raiders.
The fans are generally concerned about his mental health regardless of the situation, as are we all.
