“And that’s what pisses me off” Former Broncos WR Brandon Stokely expressed his opinion on Saints’ HC Sean Payton ‘disrespecting’ the local media

After enduring one of the worst losses in NFL history in Week 3, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton was not thrilled, to say the least. However, Payton directed his anger and frustration toward the media rather than his team, which rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, including former Broncos wide receiver Brandon Stokely.

“You’ve just got to get up there and take it like a big boy,” Stokely stated in response to Payton’s postgame comments. “You don’t need to fire back at a reporter like that. It’s uncalled for, it’s unnecessary,” Stokely added.

Stokely is confident that if a national media reporter asked them a similar question, Payton would not have answered the question in the same tone, alluding to the notion that Payton sees the local media through a different lens.

“They can have full access and whatever they want,” Stokely says about Payton and his willingness to give the national media whatever they need. Local media? We’ve been relegated,” Stokely continued.

Now a part of the local media, Stokely is a co-host for a radio show on 104.3 The Fan in Denver, Colorado. Before his career as a radio host, he enjoyed a 15-year NFL career where he spent four years with the Broncos. With that said, Stokely is not your average local media member which makes it even more alarming when you hear how he feels he’s been treated by Payton during his brief tenure as head coach thus far.
