Lions’ Matt Nelson, who filled in at right tackle in the team’s last two games, has been ruled out due to an ankle injury that requires surgery, as they prepare for their upcoming matchup against the Green Bay Packers.
After sustaining an ankle injury during the Lions’ victory over the Atlanta Falcons, it was revealed that Matt Nelson would need to undergo surgery.
As a result, he has been placed on injured reserve, sidelining him for the foreseeable future.

To compensate for the absence of starting left tackle Taylor Decker, who has been nursing an ankle injury of his own, the Lions moved rookie Penei Sewell from right tackle to left tackle.
Adding to the Lions’ injury woes, right guard Halapoulivaati Vaitai missed the previous game due to a knee injury.and he was listed as out of practice Monday.
