This baseball season, MLB introduced some new rules to make the games faster. The most noticeable change was the pitch clock, which made pitchers throw the ball more quickly and kept the games moving smoothly. At first, many players were unsure about these new rules.
But it turns out these changes are working just as MLB had hoped. According to MLB Communications, there have been only nine games this season that lasted more than three hours and thirty minutes. Last year, there were a whopping 231 games that went beyond that time. it’s clear that the pitch clock is having a good impact. The games are quicker, which keeps fans more engaged, and it seems like the pitch clock is here to stay.
To date during the 2023 season, only nine games of nine innings have eclipsed the three-hour and 30-minute mark, per @MLB_PR pic.twitter.com/IJlmktxSui

The pitch clock wasn’t the only new rule. They also limited how often a pitcher can step off the mound during a plate appearance. This change has made the matches faster and more exciting. Base stealing has gone up, and now there are 15 players with 30 or more stolen bases this season, compared to just six last year.
Overall, these new rules have shown improvement in the game. MLB surely deserves credit for making changes that give results and provide proper entertainment.
