“There’s also the risk to not go out there and be 0-3” Bengals QB Joe Burrow Didn’t Allow Injury to Keep him Sidelined

Despite dealing with a calf injury that has bothered him since training camp, Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow decided to suit up and do what he can to help the Bengals get their first win of the season against the Los Angeles Rams on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

Clearly not at 100 percent, Burrow was being “pretty cautious with extending plays,” as he didn’t want to put himself in harm’s way. With the Bengals looking to a dreadful 0-3 start, Burrow did what he could to ensure he was ready to play on Monday Night without suffering any setbacks.

Burrow knows how difficult it would’ve been to try and get out of an 0-3 hole, but he was also aware of the risk for potential re-injury: “There is the risk to go out there and potentially re-injure it, but there’s also the risk to not go out there and be 0-3,” said Burrow.

Burrow completed 26 of his 49 pass attempts for 259 scoreless yards and an interception en route to helping the Bengals get their first victory of the season. They travel to Tennessee in Week 4 to take on the Titans in a battle of 1-2 teams.

Even though he didn’t suffer a setback, Burrow declared himself “day-to-day” due to the lingering soreness of the injury. He did mention that he felt “way better” following the win over the Rams in Week 3 than he did after the Bengals’ loss to the Baltimore Ravens in Week 2.

This will remain a situation to monitor going forward and Burrow’s status bears watching in the coming days.
