Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell has warned his players that if they could not do their job on the park, then he will find players who can play better.
The final warning came in the wake of the Vikings third successive loss, a 28-24 reversal to the Chargers.
The Minnesota team sit joint bottom of the NFC North Division with the equally struggling Chicago Bears (0-3).
The other two divisional rivals, the Packers and the Lions both have two wins under their belt this season.
The Vikings will get a chance to earn their first victory when they play the 0-3 Panthers, another team under the pump. Only one team can come out the game smelling like manure, and O’Connell does not want it to be the Vikings.
“Either guys are going to do it or we’re going to have to put guys in the game that have ball security,” O’Connell told Andrew Krammer of the Minneapolis Star Tribune.
The biggest issue the Vikings face is their ball security the HC said if the team does not hold on to the ball, then wholesale changes will be made.
RB Alexander Mattison (twice) and tight end T.J. Hockenson made costly errors against the Chargers and will be hoping to hold onto the ball and the week 4 win.
