After seven remarkable seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, Ezekiel Elliot and the franchise parted ways. With the emergence of running back Tony Pollard, a younger and more dynamic player, Elliot and the Cowboys failed to agree on a contract extension that would keep him with the Cowboys. As a result, Elliot signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, who head to Dallas to face the Cowboys in Week 4.
With that said Elliot will be returning to AT&T Stadium for the first time since his decision to sign with the Patriots. Elliot was a key cog of the Cowboys’ offense ever since the team drafted him with the No. 4 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft. He won two rushing titles in his first three seasons with the franchise and amassed over 10,000 yards from scrimmage during his time in Dallas.
In seven seasons, Elliot was voted to three Pro Bowls and earned All-Pro honors in 2016 as a rookie. In 2016.
Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was recently asked if the team has any plans to pay tribute to Elliot in his return to Dallas, to which he replied: “I don’t want to blow a surprise, and that’s a good enough answer for you.”
It sounds like Jones and the Cowboys certainly have something in store to honor Elliot and his contributions to the franchise during his seven-year stint with the team.
