New reddit thread on Bartolo Colon’s ‘secret family’ removed after 20 minutes -social media users accuse people of reusing old stories

Social media users where up in arms earlier today when a supposed MLB official posted on a Reddit post bringing up former Cy Young winner Bartolo Colon’s past spousal difficulties from eight years ago.

The legendary pitcher played for 11 MLB outfits in a storied career, winning four All-Star appearances (1998, 2005, 2013 and 2016).

He won the AL wins leader award as well as the Cy Young Award in a stellar 2005 season for the Angels.

The Reddit post brought out some ridiculously rehashed comments, and it is no wonder it was taken down after 20 minutes.

The sub-thread started out, “Hi Bartolo, do you have any other ‘secret families’ you are trying to hide …”

The next few comments were just as uninspired including one that read, “Which one of your families did you bring to your retirement ceremony, or did you just bring both?”

This is in reference to an incident in 2015 when Colon was sued by a Washington Heights woman for failure to pay child support for a son and a daughter.

The pitcher settled out of court in 2016.

Colon recently retired from the game at age 50, last playing in the Dominican League earlier this year.

In 2016, at the Mets, he became the oldest player in MLB history to hit a career first home run (42 years-old).

He started his MLB career at the Indians, signing in 1997 before ending his American sojourn at the Texas Rangers in 2018.

In between he turned 0out for 11 MLB teams.

He threw 2,535 strikeouts, earned a win loss record of 247-188 and finished with an earned-run average of 4.12.

Social media users were quick to protect Colon taking to the X platform with a vengeance.

“I’m sorry but y’all are fucking weird bullying a professional athlete because of a personal issue he had a decade ago that he’s settled and clearly isn’t our business’,” said one.

Another commented, “I like how that one commenter linked the nypost story as if this is brand new and hasn’t already been settled/known about lol, weirdo.”

“It’s the internet. Trolls will do anything to get their seven chuckles in while firebombing everything,” read another post.

“F*****g hate it here sometimes, people repeat the same things over and over,” said another X user.
