If the NBA rumor mill is to be believed the Golden State Warriors could be lining up a move for Portland point guard Jrue Holiday.
Holiday only signed for the Trailblazers this year, but his potential move is already on everyone"s lips, and this fresh off yesterday"s stunning move by the Bucks for star Damian Lillard.
The Lillard saga has only been resolved yesterday in a three-team trade deal but already the talk is moving to the future of Holiday, a 19th overall pick in the 2009 draft.
The 14-year veteran previously played for the Bucks, the Pelicans and the 76ers.
ESPN"s renowned sportswriter Brian Windhorst is a reliable source of valuable NBA insight, and the veteran believes the time could be ripe for a move away from the Blazers.
He recently stated, "Even the Golden State Warriors, who have interesting young players on their roster, plus a few far-out draft picks and swaps when Stephen Curry might be retired, could join the race.
We didn"t know there was even a race, but with Lillard dominating trade talk since his request three months ago, it seems other players are already looking for new homes.
“Provided they"d [Warriors] be willing to re-trade Chris Paul, who members of the organization have praised for his offseason work of trying to fit in," he added.
Paul is an 18-year-old NBA competitor, starting out in 2005 at the Hornets, before trades to the Clippers, Rockets, Thunder, Suns and now the Golden State team.
He also joined his new franchise in 2023, and trade talk has him on the radar almost immediately after Lillard.
This could all be the usual gerrymandering that we see every trade season in the NBA, but often writers like Windhorst get it right.
