“My body’s fully adapted to football after holdout,” 49ers Star DE Nick Bosa Confident in his Conditioning

After holding out for a large portion of training camp and offseason workouts, San Francisco 49ers star edge rusher Nick Bosa inked a deal to become the richest defensive player in NFL history just before the start of the season. After being away from the team for much of the offseason, it is fair to wonder if Bosa is up-to-speed and in game shape. Rest assured, Bosa put those worries to bed.

“My body’s fully adapted to football now, and it’s going to be good from here,” said Bosa. Last season, Bosa led the league with 18.5 sacks en route to being voted the NFL’s AP Defensive Player of the Year Award winner and earning All-Pro honors. Bosa is a dynamic defensive player who can impact the outcome of a game single-handedly, so the 49ers are hoping his slow start can be put behind him.

Through three games in 2023 thus far, Bosa has just one sack. The sack came on a play where the New York Giants offensive line blew their assignment, leaving Bosa unguarded with a path to bring down quarterback Daniel Jones with ease. While it may not have been his most impressive sack, he and the 49ers are hoping it can get him going and that it is a sign of things to come.

Despite his sluggish start, the 49ers are one of the few remaining undefeated teams in the NFL. Their undefeated status will be put to the test in Week 4 when they host their divisional rival Arizona Cardinals.
