The Portland Trail Blazers, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns created a frenzy yesterday when the two sides agreed on a trade that sent long-time Blazers superstar point guard Damian Lillard to the Bucks in a three-team blockbuster deal.
In addition to Lillard, the Blazers sent out Jusuf Nurkic, Nassir Little, and Keon Johnson. In return, they received Bucks All-Star guard Jrue Holiday, Suns center Deandre Ayton, Toumani Camara, the Bucks 2029 first-round pick, and two pick swaps.
Conversely, the Bucks dealt Holiday, Grayson Allen, and draft capital to the Blazers in exchange for Lillard. Meanwhile, the Suns turned Ayton into Nurkic, Allen, Little, and Johnson.
It was a trade of epic proportions that took the NBA and fans of the league by storm, including podcast host Ryen Russillo. Russillo is the host of The Ryen Russillo Podcast presented by FanDuel, and he doesn’t seem pleased with fellow podcast host Dan Le Batard.
Le Batard, a University of Miami alumni and resident of Miami, has been proclaiming that Lillard being traded to his hometown Miami Heat was a foregone conclusion after Lillard expressed his desire to be a member of the Heat. After seeing Lillard end up with the Bucks, executive producer of The Dan Le Batard Show called out The Ringer and ESPN for using their media presence to prevent Lillard from going to the Heat.
While analyzing the fallout of the trade, Russillo took a jab aimed directly at Le Batard: "The disconnect was Miami guy [Le Batard] going, ‘Why doesn’t everybody else get it? Those idiots,’" Russillo said on air.
While Le Batard and his production team are upset that Lillard didn’t end up on the Heat, Russillo didn’t hold back on his thoughts.
