Jordan Montgomery, a former Rookie of the Year contender with the New York Yankees in 2017, kicked off the 2023 season as a member of the St. Louis Cardinals. Prior to that, he had spent six seasons in the Bronx before being part of the trade that brought Harrison Bader to the Yankees last season.

On July 30th, Montgomery found himself traded to the Texas Rangers, alongside Chris Strattan, in exchange for John King, Tekoah Roby, and Thomas Sargesse.

Notable baseball insider Chris Castellani praised Montgomery’s performances this season on the Barstool Baseball Podcast, highlighting the left-hander as a hidden talent in the league:

“I gotta say, man, the most underrated pitcher in baseball this year is Jordan Montgomery; he has been great.”

Apart from being successful on the field, Montgomery believes strongly that he got extremely lucky when it comes to married life.

Off the field, Montgomery tied the knot with McKenzie Dirr last year. Dr. Dirr has been a constant presence since his days with the New York Yankees and continues to support him as he takes the field for the Texas Rangers.

During a recent episode of the “Foul Territory” podcast, Montgomery faced some playful grilling from AJ Pierzynski and the team about how he managed to convince a doctor to marry him:

“She’s the best. … We talk all the time; she loves how dumb I am, that’s what makes it work.”

He humorously noted that McKenzie is in her first year of residency, working long hours, and admitted that their relationship thrives on his lack of understanding of most of her medical discussions.
