The Taylor Swift effect is real. After appearing at last week’s matchup between the Chicago Bears and Kansas City Chiefs to support All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce, who she is now reportedly dating, the NFL saw viewership skyrocket. Not only did viewership skyrocket, but Kelce saw a massive rise in jersey sales. Per the Associated Press, Kelce’s jersey saw “a nearly 400% spike” in sales.
Now, it has been reported that Swift plans to attend the Chiefs Week 5 matchup on NBC’s Sunday Night Football when they travel to MetLife Stadium to face the New York Jets.
Swift is a national icon and arguably the most famous celebrity in the world, so it is no surprise to see the media attention that her relationship with Kelce is garnering. Not to mention, Kelce is a celebrity in his own right. In addition to being a Super Bowl Champion and one of the greatest tight ends to ever play in the NFL, he had a television show called Catching Kelce.
Kelce also does a podcast with his brother Jason Kelce, starting center for the Philadelphia Eagles, where they share their experiences growing up together and chasing their dream of reaching the NFL. The show is called New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce and it is currently one of the most popular podcast series out right now.
