According to Pro Football Talk, Williams wasn’t dismissed from the game last week after punching Giants defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson in the helmet, as the NFL wasn’t able to confirm that Williams had used a closed fist. Instead, the players were assessed compensatory, unnecessary roughness penalties.

Williams dismissed it after the game, referring to it as a “love tap,” and he said he didn’t anticipate being fined.
Trent Williams told me the NFL fined him $11K today for this punch
Most replays don't show that it actually was a retaliatory slug after A'Shawn Robinson hit Trent in the neck. That's likely why officials didn't eject the 49ers left tackle just before halftime of win over Giants https://t.co/iBON6wO0yo

Only $11,473, the normal fine for undue roughness, was imposed on him. Robinson was charged with the same penalty.
However, the players have suffered less financial loss than Leonard Williams, a New York Giants defensive lineman, who was fined $16,391 for slamming Brock Purdy with his entire body weight.
Jihad Ward of the New York Giants was penalized $8,139 for unnecessary roughness as well.
