The Ole Miss Rebels have a heavy sum to pay following a 55-49 victory against LSU on Saturday, after fans invaded the pitch, violating the SEC’s access to competition area policy.
Hence, as a result, the SEC announced on Sunday that Ole Miss has been penalized $100,000 for the incident.
According to The Athletic, SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey, mentioned, “While fines don’t impact the immediate decision-making process of fans, they do provide an incentive from universities to develop strategies,”
According to the conference policy, “Institutions shall limit access to competition areas to participating student-athletes, coaches, officials, support personnel and properly credentialed or authorized individuals at all times. For the safety of participants and spectators alike, at no time before, during or after a contest may spectators enter the competition area.”
As spectators crowded the pitch, two players—an LSU player and a security guard—made headlines for punching fans. The security guard was putting all his efforts into stopping the crowd.
However, unfortunately, a female fan got a major blow as the security guard’s elbow hit the fan and she fell down.

An LSU player also reacted to a fan, as he could be heard using expletives against their team’s loss.
