Fox Noon commentator Gus Johnson has fallen foul of some USC Trojans fans after seemingly giving the Buffaloes more Prime Time attention during their clash.
The Colorado Boulder team, under head coach Deion Sanders are growingly in the public eye, whether they win, lose or even dominate more enthusiasm in the Commentator’s booth.
The Boulder team suffered a high scoring 48-41 loss to the Trojans, going 2-4.
Maybe it’s just Prime Time that is always under the spotlight, always has been and seemingly always will be, at least to some perceptions.
Yes, the four-time Superbowl champion is one of the most gifted sportsmen in history, spending 14 years in the NFL and nine years in the MLB and yes, he may be outspoken, brash, even dare we say controversial.
But the Trojans fans could be making a hurricane in a thimble.
Johnson was accused of not being excited enough on USC plays as he was on Colorado plays.
I guess commentating and excitement levels are subjective, and somehow intertwined into bias.
Johnson was with his colleague USC alumni Joel Klatt, so maybe the latter could have been more thrilled to see a Trojans move.
To be fair, Johnson was not overly hyped up on plays by the Trojans while lesser plays were called out more enthusiastically.
Commentary is supposed to be objective, never is though, and that is why there are two broadcasters, in this case ostensibly one for each team.
It seems Sanders will keep splitting opinion.
Maybe USC will find more love when they take on Arizona in week 6.
