“MC was there, he made the play, then the ref threw the flag” – Jets Sauce Gardner not happy with being flagged as Chiefs cling on for the win

There was mild controversy near the conclusion of the match between the Chiefs and the jets with many fans feeling corner back Sauce Gardner was wrongly adjudged for defensive holding and flagged.

The Jets fans will be aggrieved that, with less than five minutes on the clock left, Michael Carter II picked off a poor pass by Kansas City QB Patrick Mahomes at the Jets’ 14-yard line.

Gardner was flagged for defensive holding on against Marquez Valdes-Scantling.

That moment proved the final nail in the coffin for a brave Jets effort, led by quarterback Zach Wilson, who had fumbled badly three minutes before that.

Up to then Wilson was instrumental in getting the underdog Jets to within striking distance.

This is how Sauce called the play on social media after the game:

“Pat threw the ball outside of the receiver. MC was there, he made the play, then the ref threw the flag. That’s like when you play basketball 1-on-1 & you go up to lay the ball up & you wait to see you miss, & then say foul”.

Many pundits and analysts are calling foul on that non-foul, but it is already ancient history as the Jets sink to 1-3. There is plenty left in the New York team though and with a game against the Broncos next, a win could be on the cards.
