On Sunday, the Houston Astros completed the regular season of 2023 in first place in the American League West.
The Astros needed the Mariners to defeat the Rangers on the final day so that their title could be secured, and that is exactly what happened.

The Houston Astros then defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-1 in the game’s final outing to win the American League West, which came to them for the sixth time in the period of seven years.
According to MLB, Chas McCormick, the team’s center fielder, said, “It feels good,”
“It feels good to get in the playoffs, especially to win the division. With how hard it was there at the end of the season, with our ups and downs, I think this says a lot about these guys. We never stopped fighting all the way to the finish line.”
Alex Bregman also mentioned, “We had an extremely tough division this year,”
“Texas had a great year, Seattle had a great year. To be able to prevail today on the last day of the season, it was a really good win for us. Now it’s time to go home and rest the bodies and get ready for October.”

Houston’s third baseman had some choice words for naysayers and detractors as the team celebrated winning the AL West division.
"People were wondering what it was gonna be like if the 'Stros didn't win the division…
I guess we'll never know" 😎🍾
