The injury occurred during the first quarter of Sunday’s game when Gonzalez tackled Dallas running back Tony Pollard and landed in an awkward position, leading to a dislocated shoulder. The team’s medical staff had to pop it back into place to address the issue.
Gonzalez, the 17th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, had been performing exceptionally well in the Patriots’ defensive backfield this season. He’s already notched a sack and an interception in just four games and even earned the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Month award for September. Unfortunately, his injury adds to the growing list of defensive backs dealing with injuries in Foxborough, including Jack Jones (hamstring), Marcus Jones (shoulder), and Jonathan Jones (ankle).
