The Bengals team were no doubt frustrated by the Titans all out pressure game on defense, resulting in a smothering 27-3.
The exasperation seemingly boiled over when a clip of Bengals wide receiver Ja’ Marr Chase was shared on social media with the player saying, “I’m always f****ng open”.
This was taken to been Chase was not on the receiving end of enough of the leather, but Cincinnati head coach Zac Taylor quashed the smack talk instantly, saying he and the team normally review comment footage and he was happy that Chase showed leadership instead of frustration.
Talking specifically about the WR’s comments the coach said this is “how our best players handle it the right way.
“It’s real leadership,” Taylor said at his press conference.
“He’s reflecting a lot on when I get my opportunities, I got to find ways to be explosive and get in the end zone.
“I thought he was outstanding … It shows the confidence he has that I’m going to get open and win and when I get my opportunities, I’m going to do something with it. I love that,” he enthused.
The Bengals are off to a poor start, going 1-3 and their loss to the Titans must have stung more than any this season.
The Cincinnati team sit bottom of the AFC North while the Titans move to 2-2, tied wins with the other three teams in the AFC South.
