MetLife Stadium was buzzing on Sunday as the New York Jets squared off against the Kansas City Chiefs with pop sensation Taylor Swift in attendance.
Swift’s presence at Chiefs games has become quite the talking point, especially given her rumored romance with Chiefs star tight end, Travis Kelce.
This wasn’t the first time Swift made an appearance at a Chiefs game.
Just last week, she was spotted in a suite at Arrowhead Stadium, seated alongside Kelce’s mother, Donna, as they witnessed the Chiefs’ victory over the Chicago Bears.
It seems that wherever Taylor Swift goes, headlines follow, and her connection to the NFL has not gone unnoticed by football fans.
Some fans have even begun to speculate whether NFL games might be influenced or rigged to impress Taylor Swift.
“These games are looking rigged big time.”
“What a joke nfl rigged ass games fix ur refs.”
“The NFL is going to lose real football fans just to cater to a bunch of 16-year-old girls and 35-year-old cat ladies.”
“The WWE is more believable than this scripted shit.”
“Taylor Swift should be banned from Chiefs games.”
“They played the jets…. And the Chicago bears.”
“We don’t giiiiiiiveeeeeeee a f**k.”
“This game was set up to be a classic at the end of the third and the refs made their presence felt in the fourth.. just too many flags.. not an enjoyable watch.”
“DEFINITELY RIGGED.”
“Can’t fix the refs when the league wanted the Chiefs to win.”
Apparently, on Sunday, during the fourth quarter, Jets’ defensive stalwart, Sauce Gardner, found himself in the crosshairs of controversy as he was flagged for defensive holding while tangling with Chiefs’ agile wide receiver, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, during a critical third-and-20 juncture.
The call, administered by the referee Frank Steratore, instantly erased an interception by Michael Carter II and returned the ball back to the Chiefs’ quarterback, Patrick Mahomes.
Next, Kansas City, manipulated the clock to their advantage, culminating in a hard-fought 23-20 win over the New York Jets.
After this dramatic showdown, NFL fans, especially devoted Jets supporters, began to speculate that the presence of pop sensation Taylor Swift at the stadium had influenced the game’s outcome. The idea of a rigged game designed to win her favor became a subject among fans.
As the dust settled, the contentious holding decision became a subject of intense debate in the days that followed.
Yet, amid the cacophony, Dean Blandino, former NFL vice president of officiating, staunchly maintained that the officials made the correct call.
