The Commanders will be looking to end their own poor form and will not look too deep into the woes that is this season’s Bears.
The Commanders are off back-to-back losses, conceding 30+ plus points in each game. They lost 34-31 to the Eagles in week 4, slightly better than the 37-3 annihilation they suffered at the hands of the Bills in week 2.
The Commanders are 2-2 for the season, sitting third in the NFC East Division.
The Bears are in a slump so bad Chicago could disown them. They are 0-4 this campaign propping up the NFC North, the only other winless team being the Panthers.
Can the Bears picked pick up an opening win against a Commanders team falling apart defensively?
Commanders quarterback Sam Howell is under no illusion as to the hidden quality of the Bears team.
“They’re talented,” Howell said.
“Obviously, the record is what it is, but it’s definitely not a team you can take lightly.
“There’s no easy games in the NFL and they have a lot of really good players on their defense and they fly around.
“They play hard, and you can tell they want to win and it’s definitely a challenge for us and we definitely have our hands full.
If the Commanders think all they need do on Thursday night is turn up Howell is ensuring no game is taken lightly.
“They do a lot of good stuff schematically on defense as well.
“It’s definitely a tough defense. Every defense in the NFL is tough to play against, so you definitely got to be ready to go and you got to prepare. We’re excited for the challenge,” he added.
The Bears have allowed 137 points in four games, second only to the Broncos, who let in 70 against the Dolphins in one game. That said, the Denver team have a win on the board.
Chicago will be desperate for some reward in week 5, in a season that is deteriorating quickly.
