Rodney Harrison was regarded as one of the most intimidating and talented safeties in the NFL during his 15-year career from 1994-2008. He was able to parlay his success as an NFL player into a broadcasting career once he decided to retire and has since been an analyst for NBC’s Football Night in America. However, Harrison recently tried using his platform to bash New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson.
This is NOT the way to conduct an interview when talking about people.
NBC's Rodney Harrison called Zach Wilson "Garbage" in the post-game and tried to bait #Chiefs DT Chris Jones into agreeing with him.
Felt almost personal.
Thankfully Jones didn't take it and instead… https://t.co/q0uYGaZPEX pic.twitter.com/A9hAuE0MLm

After the Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Jets on Sunday Night Football last week, Chiefs star defensive tackle Chris Jones appeared on NBC’s postgame segment for an interview with Harrison about the game. During the interview, it was clear that Harrison was doing his best to try baiting Jones to badmouth Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, who has been under scrutiny since being named the Jets’ quarterback.
Harrison called Wilson “garbage” in the post-game comments and told Jones “he can be honest” when speaking on Wilson’s performance in the game versus the Chiefs. Wilson was selected to be the Jets’ starting quarterback of the future in 2021 when the team took him with the No. 2 overall pick in the NFL Draft but has failed to live up to expectations since.
However, Jones had nothing but respect for Wilson and the effort he displayed while he and the Jets were trying to overcome an early 17-0 deficit. Jones referred to Wilson as “special” and a player who is “continuing to get better week in and week out” in response to Harrison’s failed attempt to have Jones badmouth the young signal-caller.
Props to Jones for taking the high road and respecting his opponent.
