Golfers are starting to get sick of hearing about the battle between the PGA and Liv.
Justin Thomas, a former double major champion and world number one has hit out at author Alan Shipnuck, whose book LIV and Let Die: The Inside Story of the War between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf is set to hit shelves next week.
Thomas blasted the author on social media.
“I’d like to speak on behalf of a lot of Tour players and say we’re sick of @AlanShipnuck doing what he does,” he said.
“Bring positivity and good stories to help grow the game of golf, not try and make money bashing guys, earning zero trust, with a lot of incorrect information. Ridiculous.”
Thomas and good friend Jordan Spieth, another multiple major winner, were mentioned in an excerpt from the book, with Brooks Koepka reportedly saying, of the two golf pals.
“F–k all of those country club kids who talk sh-t about me. You think I give a f—k what they think?”
Thomas is not perturbed about the quote but rather the ongoing negativity that is surrounding golf in the US at the moment.
It could be a hangover after their substantial loss to Europe in the Ryder Cup in Rome over the weekend, or it could be that the quote was taken out of context.
The three major winners could have resolved all of their issues in a Rome restaurant over the weekend and are showing a united front.
The timing of the book may be questionable, the content explosive but it seems players have had enough groaning and griping about the ongoing saga.
Like playing behind a slow four ball, golfers want to move forward at a sprightly pace.
