“We got our a** kicked” – Commanders DT Jon Allen disappointed with Washington’s dismal performance in blowout loss

Washington Commanders team captain and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Jonathan Allen did not mince words in his postgame comments regarding the team’s 40-20 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday Night Football. “We got our asses kicked,” Allen told ESPN’s Commanders reporter John Keim.

While Allen’s comments may sound a little harsh, he is not wrong. The Bears jumped out to an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter and never looked back in the wire-to-wire victory. The Bears, who lost 14 consecutive games and hadn’t won a football game in nearly a full calendar year, looked like the better team on Thursday night.

The Commanders defense gave up 451 total yards to the Bears, with Bears wide receiver DJ Moore having a career night. Moore hauled in eight receptions for 230 yards and three touchdowns en route to the dominant blowout victory. It was not a good performance for Allen and the Commanders defense, to say the least.

The loss wasn’t solely on the defense. Quarterback Sam Howell and the offense couldn’t move the ball at all in the first half and only started to score points once the game was already out of hand and the Bears decided to drop back in coverage.

After starting the season 2-0, the Commanders have lost three straight games to fall to 2-3. Up next, the Commanders will travel to Atlanta to face the Falcons and will try to get their winning percentage back up to .500. Allen and the rest of the team have 10 days to prepare for their Week 6 matchup and try to get back on track.
