The Minnesota Twins were defeated by the Houston Astros on Saturday and the score was 6-4.

With the won, they have the lead in the American League Division Series (ALDS).

Both future Hall of Fame pitcher Justin Verlander and multi-home run hitter Yordan Alvarez had good beginnings for the defending champions.

According to ESPN Stats and Info, “In yesterday’s Game 1 win, Justin Verlander posted the 6th scoreless start of his postseason career. That is tied with Madison Bumgarner and Tom Glavine for the most in MLB history.”

Verlander has had the good fortune to play in the postseason on multiple occasions while playing with the Astros and Tigers.

He has pitched more than 213 innings in October over the course of his career and has a 3.54 ERA in the postseason.

Verlander with his impressive talents aided the Houston Astros in both the 2017 and 2022 World Series victories.

He was sent back to Houston from the New York Mets at the end of the trading period this year. He is also considered one of the most impeccable pitchers of his generation.
