ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith Not Afraid to Let Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin Hear it After Cowboys Embarrassing Loss on SNF

ESPN media and television personality Stephen A. Smith has never been shy about his disdain for the Dallas Cowboys franchise. Any time he has a chance to blast the Cowboys on national television, he doesn’t hesitate and the Cowboys presented him with a perfect opportunity to do just that after they were embarrassed by the San Francisco 49ers on NBC’s Sunday Night Football in their 42-10 defeat.

During ESPN’s First Take, Smith started the show with a dance while having a cigar in his mouth and wearing a cowboy hat with a No. 88 Cowboys jersey of former Cowboys Legend Michael Irvin. He shouted “Howdy! How do you do?” before going on a rant about how the Cowboys were in search of a playmaker during their blowout loss to the 49ers.

Smith’s co-host, Shannon Sharpe, couldn’t help but break out into laughter in response to Smith’s bit. Smith proceeded to do the first segment of the show while wearing his hat and jersey.

The Cowboys could’ve certainly used a playmaker of Irvin’s caliber last night against the 49ers, but even that may not have been enough to overcome a 32-point loss. It was a brutal showing for “America’s Team” on national television and Smith was enjoying every second of it.

Two of the most historic franchises in the NFL, the 49ers have had the Cowboys’ number in recent meetings. The 49ers have defeated the Cowboys in their last three meetings, two of which eliminated the Cowboys from the playoffs in 2021 and 2022.
