In a recent development, the Indianapolis Colts officially placed Anthony Richardson on injured reserve.
This move guarantees that Richardson will be sidelined for at least a month after suffering a Grade 3 AC joint sprain in the Colts’ Week 5 triumph over the Tennessee Titans, as per NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport’s report.
“We’ll continue to evaluate that process,” Shane Steichen said on Wednesday. “Don’t have a timetable to return.”

However, the four-week timeline imposed by the injured reserve may not be the final word on Richardson’s return, according to Colts head coach Shane Steichen.
Steichen, keeping a rather vague stance on Richardson’s health, stated that the team will thoroughly consider all treatment options, including the possibility of surgery.
“We’ll see what happens, what the doctors say with the final deal,” Steichen said.
Unfortunately, this shoulder injury isn’t the first time Richardson has been forced out of action this season due to health concerns.
In fact, it marks the third occasion in which Richardson had to exit a game due to injury. Earlier in Week 2, he suffered a concussion, which prompted the Colts to turn to veteran backup Gardner Minshew.
Minshew stepped up admirably and started in place of Richardson during Week 3, leading the Colts to a thrilling overtime victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
Once again, in Week 5, Minshew was called upon to fill in for Richardson, and he successfully outlasted the Titans as the Colts secured their third win of the season.
