“We’ve got to create a new history,” Broncos QB Russell Wilson Eager to Snap 15-game Losing Streak to Chiefs

Ever since Andy Reid became the head coach in 2013, the Kansas City Chiefs have practically owned the AFC West division in the NFL. The Chiefs have won at least nine games every season since Reid arrived in town and made the playoffs in all but one season. Additionally, they’ve won the AFC West each of the past seven seasons dating back to 2016 and are trying to make it eight straight seasons in 2023.

It’s been a historically dominant run for the Chiefs/Reid, but it’s also put a target on their backs. The rest of the division is hungry to dethrone the Chiefs and make their own history. The Denver Broncos have a chance to do just that on Amazon Prime Video’s Thursday Night Football game between them and the Chiefs this week.

The Broncos have lost 15 consecutive games to the Chiefs since 2015. For context, Chiefs franchise quarterback Patrick Mahomes was still playing college football at Texas Tech when the Broncos last defeated the Chiefs. However, Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson is using that as a source of inspiration leading up to their Week 6 matchup.

“The important thing is that we’ve got to create a new history,” Wilson stated after practice on Tuesday. “Every game has a history of its own, and we’ve got to be focused on this one and go win this game,” Wilson added.

The Broncos will look to make a statement against the Chiefs on Thursday night in hopes of re-writing history.
