Breaking: Connor Bedard’s NHL Debut Garners Highest-Ever Viewership for Cable Television

The 18-year-old prodigy, Connor Bedard, is turning heads with his National Hockey League debut and now another feat comes his talented way. 

Bedard is the first overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft and was selected by the Chicago Blackhawks.

During his time in the Western Hockey League, he was also awarded the Jim Piggott Memorial Trophy for being the best rookie in the league during his first season of play. 

As per Charlie Roumeliotis, “#Blackhawks-Penguins on Opening Night averaged 1.43 million viewers, which is ESPN’s most-viewed NHL regular-season game on record.”

In an incredible play, the Chicago Blackhawks were successful in defeating the Pittsburgh Penguins. The score was 4-2. So, according to Front Office Sports, the young prodigy’s NHL debut garnered 1.43 million viewers on ESPN. 

Subsequently, it became the highest-watched NHL regular-season game in cable television history. The forward NHL talent is the subject of enormous fanfare, and hockey enthusiasts were excited to see him make the league’s debut. 

In his first professional game, Bedard recorded his first career point and assisted the Chicago Blackhawks to their victory.

After their win against the Pittsburgh Penguins, the Charlotte Blackhawks took on the Boston Bruins, where Bedard became the third-youngest player in the history of the team to score a goal.

However, the Blackhawks have lost to the Boston Bruins by a score of 3-1. The next team the Blackhawks will face is the Montreal Canadians.
