The Arizona Diamondbacks just pulled off one of the more stunning upsets in recent MLB memory by sweeping the Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the National League Divisional Series. The Diamondbacks entered the postseason as a Wild Card team after finishing the 2023 season just six games above .500. However, MLB broadcaster Bob Costas didn’t seem to be too impressed based on his commentary.
During the late stages of the game, Costas went into detail to discuss the Oakland Athletics, a team that was not playing in this heated Dodgers-Diamondbacks game (nor did they even make the playoffs). Rather than discussing the closing moments of the game, Costas took the time to address the A’s and their potential move to Las Vegas that won’t happen before 2028 (if the decision is approved by MLB owners).
Bob Costas goes in-depth on Steve Bartman and the Cubs losing the 2003 NLCS. The topic then switches to the A's, where he brings up the likely move from Oakland to Vegas.

While the A’s decision to move to Las Vegas is an important and interesting storyline to follow, there is a time and place for everything. The Diamondbacks were on the cusp of reaching their first NLCS since 2007, yet Costas was more focused on a move that may not happen for at least another four or five years at minimum.
Regardless, the Diamondbacks accomplished a remarkable feat and ended a 16-year drought with an impressive 3-0 series sweep over one of the best teams in the MLB. Now, they await to face the winner of the Braves-Phillies series, with the Phillies currently having a 2-1 series lead.
