David Montgomery injury update: Lions RB might some Miss Time with Rib Injury he suffered against the Bucs

Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery reportedly suffered a rib injury in the winning game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Detroit Free Press’s Dave Birkett reports that player David Montgomery “will miss some time” because of a rib injury he sustained in the game’s victory.

After the game, head coach Dan Campbell also stated that although Montgomery’s preliminary X-rays came back negative, additional testing was being done.

According to the Detroit Free Press, “Another hit for the Lions, though nothing has slowed them yet. Sounds like Lions RB David Montgomery will miss some time with the rib injury he suffered yesterday.”

The Detroit Lions, however, defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the concluding score was 20-6. Montgomery stayed on the pitch for a little while before eventually leaving on his own initiative. Later on, the remainder of the game was declared over for him.

According to ESPN, head coach Dan Campbell expressed concern regarding the injury and said, “I’d like to say I don’t think it’ll be some long-term issue, but I won’t know until tomorrow for sure,”

Following the veteran running back Montgomery’s departure from the game, Detroit went with Devine Ozigbo and Craig Reynolds. Lion’s Zonovan Knight has also been put on the injury reserve list as he sustained an injury to his shoulder, which will conclude his season.

Jared Goff Lions quarterback regarding Montgomery injury said, “Losing David today … it’s hard. You have a lot of faith in Craig (Reynolds) and (Devine) Ozigbo, but Dave has kind of been our guy all year and him going out, it makes it tough,”

“But that’s where we want to live and die by that run and have everything off it. Sometimes, that’s not the case and today it wasn’t.”

In Week 2, the running back suffered from a thigh injury and a game was missed by him. Detroit’s top rusher with 385 yards and six touchdowns is Montgomery.

Detroit still has games facing the Las Vegas Raiders and Baltimore Ravens and considering the running back problems, the Lions need to be cautious as they move forward.
