According to the NFL, Frank Reich, the head coach of the Panthers, is altering the way the offense makes decisions. Reich has stated that offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will be taking over as the play-caller.
On Monday, reports were released by NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport, Tom Pelissero, and Mike Garafolo. Reich announced the modification at his press conference.
Reich said, “It’s always been part of the plan,”
“Something Thomas and I have discussed from the time that he was hired. I’m excited for this for Thomas. I’m excited for our team on offense. Thomas is a stud. He’s a great leader. He’s a brilliant offensive mind. We all have a lot of confidence in him.”
As per the NFL, Brown is regarded as a major asset to the team. Even though he is relatively young, considering the position, the NFL coaching groups hold him in high esteem as having a talented offensive mentality.
According to Pelissero, the head coach Reich made the choice to make the adjustment, and he stated that it had been “100 percent my decision from start to finish.”
Reich further stated regarding this announcement and said, “I think the timing is right,”
“This has been something even from the beginning that I have talked through with Mr. (David) Tepper and (general manager) Scott (Fitterer) from the beginning of the season. Thought that this bye week was going to be a check point. Really been thinking hard about it the last couple of weeks. And kind of knew it was leaning this way. I’m excited to turn it over to Thomas, and know he’s going to do a great job for this team.”
“I needed to get in-season and see it all play out,”
“I’d like to think this is the best decision no matter what our record is.”
According to ESPN, Reich has nothing but encouraging words for Brown stating, “He has a great football mind,”
“He has the strongest leadership qualities you could ask for. I can’t emphasize how excited I am for Thomas. He’s relatively speaking young. But there is a reason why at his age he has ascended to this position so quickly.”
Reich was inspired after seeing the Miami Dolphins game, in which Young gave the Carolina Panthers the lead in the opening quarter.
The next game for the Carolina Panthers is scheduled to be against the Houston Texans.
