2024 draft – As it stands right now the Chicago Bears have the top 2 picks and look set to rebuild a legacy team

There is a glimmer of hope for better days in Chicago with the Bears holding pocket aces going into the 2024 draft.

The Panthers are winless and if all play had to stop now, would have been first to the pick, but they traded with the Bears.

The Chicago team, 1-5, could start building a franchise dynasty if they pick and trade well.

Of course, the draft order is as it stands now, after six weeks and trades already completed.

The Bears have some serious need of a wide receiver, an offensive lineman, defensive end tight end or edge rusher. That is a lot of players needed but with the top two picks and some smart shopping down the rounds, they could cover themselves in the near to mid-term future.

The Cardinals would get the third overall pick, and like the Bears need a host of positions covered, but the most likely positions will come in defense.

Another 1-5 team, the Denver Broncos would get pick four and grab an edge rusher or CB.

Going into week 7, the Giants would be next in line for a pick, and depending on the future of Saquon Barkley could pick an RB, or even a wide receiver.

The Patriots are lined up to take the sixth pick and New England would love to grab QB Caleb Williams, the number one overall pick frontrunner.

They also need a DE, offensive tackle and running back.

The Vikings will go next and with Kirk Cousins contract coming to an end a QB is a necessity.

In this made-up world, based on rankings right now, the Titans would pick next and a QB will be high on their list. But they also need an RB, OT, WR and edge rusher.

Pick 9 would go to the Packers, who will want to stack their attack, with a OT, IOL and CB high priority.

The tenth pick would go to the LA Chargers, who will want to shop for a running back, C, CB, DT or wife receiver.

The Saints, 3-3 this season will get the number 11 pick right now, and desperately need an OT, WR, LB, OG and CB.

Next up will be the Raiders, also three from three this season, and they will need help offensively, with Jermaine Eluemunor, Greg Van Roten and Andre James going on free agency they will need depth and star quality in the OT, C, RB, CB positions.

The Washington Commanders have had a decent start and if they can keep on course, they will get the 13th pick and will hope lucky number 13 goes to a top prospect in the edge, OT, LB or IOL positions.

The Bengals are showing signs of improvement going from 0-2 down after two weeks to stand at 3-3. There is no reason to suggest they will not get better, but at the moment they would get pick 14. They will be going all-out for a WR and tight end to help Ja’Marr Chase.

The Falcons have been in good form, and sit with a 3-3 record, and if they stay the same, they will earn the 15th pick, and with new QB Desmond Ridder struggling will likely go for a quarterback.

The rapidly improving Jets will no doubt be thankful that Zach Wilson is getting so much start time, and with the expected return of Aaron Rodgers, they may go for an OT, IOL, or wide receiver. Then again, a rookie QB to back-up the back-up could also be on the cards.

The 3-3 Colts are in a spot of bother in the wide receiver slot, so expect a move in this position.

The Cardinals have another first round pick, at number 18 (having acquired it from the Texans), and their needs have already been discussed at the top of the article.

The Rams could pick up the 19th pick, and will no doubt be looking at a a left tackle.

The 20th pick would go to the Seattle Seahawks and while not desperate they could do with a DB, OG, WR or DT.

At 21, the Buccaneers will be hoping quarterback Baker Mayfield improves, then signs on, or if he does not improve, they will probably go for a QB.

Teams without first round picks are the Panthers and the Browns, who traded their first-round pick to the Bears and the Texans respectively.
