Vince McMahon will always be remembered for co-founding the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as we know it. However, McMahon has stepped away from WWE in recent years due to his involvement in sexual assault allegations. As a result of said allegations, McMahon was motivated to negotiate an agreement regarding the rights to his life story in case the WWE was sold.
Since then, WWE has merged with Endeavor. Now, Netflix is set to release a documentary about McMahon, which will be produced by The Ringer. Bill Simmons, podcaster and sportswriter for The Ringer, has been very involved in the production of the documentary and is eager for it to be released.
“I really think it has the chance to be the best one I’ve been involved with,” Simmons stated. “It was a lot of time, and it was one where Netflix still has final cut of it and it was a little more old-school in the 30 for 30 model. I think it has a chance to be really special,” Simmons added during an appearance on Bloomberg Screentime.
While it won’t touch on his checkered past involving his sexual assault allegations without the approval of McMahon due to him having ownership over that portion of his life story, Simmons made it clear that McMahon is not involved in the creative decision-making process of this documentary.
Simmons mentioned that McMahon will be allowed to “look at clips” of the documentary before it is released to the public, but will not have influence over the final product.
