After getting blown out on Sunday Night Football in Week 6 in what quarterback Dak Prescott called the “most humbling game” of his career, the Dallas Cowboys showed a lot of resilience and toughness in their Week 7 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football at SoFi Stadium.
After losing two of their last three games and dropping to 3-2, the Cowboys needed a big road victory to regain momentum and get back on track. It was a game the Cowboys needed to have and Prescott delivered a remarkable performance in the 20-17 win. Prescott completed 21 of his 30 pass attempts for 272 yards and a touchdown with seven carries, 40 rushing yards, and an additional touchdown.
After the game, Prescott addressed how badly the Cowboys needed this game tonight for the sake of their rest-of-season outlook. “S— yeah, it was a must-win,” Prescott told reporters. “…It’s early in the season, but 3-3, 4-2, it’s a huge difference,” Prescott added.
While there is still a lot of football to be played, there’s no denying that it was a big win for the Cowboys. They now trail their divisional rival, the Philadelphia Eagles by just one game for first place in the NFC East standings.
The Cowboys now enter their Week 7 bye with a 4-2 record before returning to play in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Rams.
