While former NFL punter and current media/television personality Pat McAfee can be viewed as a credible source due to his strong connection to the NFL as both a player and analyst, he is not an insider. With that said, it must be taken with a grain of salt when he tries to report information on his show, The Pat McAfee Show. ESPN already has a group of NFL insiders led by Adam Schefter.

Schefter made an appearance on McAfee’s show and a conversation was had between the two regarding a potential big-name coaching change being made by the Denver Broncos. McAfee mentioned that he heard rumors regarding former NFL head coach and current NFL analyst at ESPN, Rex Ryan, and his becoming the next defensive coordinator for the Broncos.

The Broncos currently have Vance Joseph on their coaching staff as the team’s defensive coordinator and do not seem like they’re in any rush to make a coaching change in the middle of the season. Additionally, Ryan may not be in any rush to accept a coaching job in the middle of the season. Schefter went as far as confirming that and shutting down any rumors regarding Ryan joining the Broncos coaching staff this season.

"No, in fact, Rex [Ryan] is not going to Denver right now," Schefter told McAfee. "You know who my source is on that? Rex {Ryan]. We were talking about it yesterday as we were watching the games."

Any rumors regarding Ryan and the Broncos can seemingly be put to bed until the end of the season, per Schefter. This serves as a reminder that McAfee is an analyst at ESPN while Schefter is the insider.
