Trevor May, a relief pitcher for the Oakland Athletics, didn’t mince words when announcing his retirement during a Twitch stream. He took the opportunity to criticize team owner John Fisher, saying,
“Sell the team, dude. … Sell it, man. Let someone who actually, like, takes pride in the things they own own something. There’s actually people who give a s— about the game. Let them do it. Take mommy and daddy’s money somewhere else, dork.”
Former A’s pitcher Trevor May retired then ripped the team’s owner John Fisher
“Take mommy and daddy’s money somewhere else… If you’re gonna be a greedy fuck, own it. There’s nothing weaker than being afraid of cameras.”pic.twitter.com/v2k4HeWq5L

Fisher, whose parents founded Gap, has faced backlash for attempting to move the A’s to Las Vegas, a move widely criticized by Oakland fans. Fisher’s tenure as the owner has been marked by a lack of popularity, particularly because the team consistently ranks near the bottom in payroll.
May didn’t hold back, suggesting that if Fisher wanted to be greedy, he should own up to it. He added,
“There’s nothing weaker than being afraid of cameras. … Do what you’re going to do, bro. Whatever, you’re a billionaire, they exist, you guys have all this power — you shouldn’t have any because you haven’t earned any of it, but anyway, whatever.”
Trevor May had a nine-year career in the majors, with six years at the Minnesota Twins and two with the New York Mets before his time with the A’s. In 2023, he recorded 21 saves for the A’s and had a 4-4 record with a 3.28 ERA in 46⅔ innings.
