Tiger Woods hasn’t participated in a round of competitive golf since he decided to withdraw from the Masters in April. With the Hero World Challenge set to tee off on Nov. 30, a tournament hosted by Woods himself, he teased the idea of potentially making his highly-anticipated return to golf.
Woods hasn’t played in his event since 2019 but now has an opportunity to ease back into competitive play by returning to an event hosted by him. The Hero World Challenge is regarded as one of the more stress-free golf outings of the year with the tournament acting as a benefit for the Tiger Woods Foundation.
Several high-profile players have committed to participate in the event, including eight of the top 10 players in the world. Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Jordan Spieth, Matt Fitzpatrick, Patrick Cantlay, and Xander Schauffele are just some of the players set to partake in the event.
19 of the 20 spots for the tournament have been filled. Why has the last spot not been filled yet? People are speculating that Woods is keeping that spot open for himself, leaving the door open for a potential return to competitive golf.
Woods underwent ankle surgery earlier this year following his decision to withdraw from the Masters to address arthritis caused by a previous ankle fracture. Hopefully, he has had enough time to make a full and speedy recovery, because it would be incredible to see him make his return to golf at the Hero World Challenge.
