The athletes of the Women’s National Basketball Association, i.e., the WNBA, are fittingly becoming more popular and widely recognized due to their growing fan bases and celebrity attendance.

Meanwhile, the number of people watching the WNBA Finals has also significantly increased.

According to ESPN PR, “The 2023 #WNBAFinals are the most-watched in 20 years 👏”

The New York Liberty and Las Vegas Aces tournaments are drawing the largest number of people to the Finals in 20 years, with an average of “673,000 viewers” throughout ABC and ESPN.

The most people watched Game 3 in eighteen years, with “659,000 viewers” on average watching the New York Liberty’s victory over the Las Vegas Aces. The astonishing number of peak average viewers was “945,000”. The game had a 14% increase from last year’s Game 3 of the WNBA Finals.

According to Front Office Sports, it is interesting to note that while playing the NFL on Sundays, the WNBA Finals have done better than when playing on a weeknight. For example, Game 1 of the series drew an average audience of “729,000 people”, but Game 2 last Wednesday drew “626,000”.

The average viewership of the Game 3 series across ESPN and ABC is “673,000”. It was also the most viewed Finals through Game 3 in two decades, up “13% from the 2022 WNBA Finals”.

The WNBA and the New York Liberty both triumphed once more. The game at Brooklyn’s Barclays Centre drew 17,143 fans, setting a league record for gate receipts for New York.
