“But he would look at the list and be like, ‘I’m actually higher than 66” Austin Reaves’ brother drops a truth bomb about Reaves’ ESPN player ranking

Austin Reaves, despite his impressive performance in the FIBA World Cup this summer, was ranked No. 66 on ESPN"s annual preseason player ranking list for the NBA.

This position might have come as a surprise to many, including Austin Reaves"s brother, Spencer Reaves, who also happened to share his thoughts on the ranking.

Spencer Reaves suggested that his younger brother, Austin, would probably believe he deserves a higher rank than No. 66, although Austin himself would never openly voice this sentiment.

"I can say this confidently," Spencer Reaves said. "[Austin] would never come out [and say this]. But he would look at the list and be like, ‘I"m actually higher than 66.""

During the previous season, Austin Reaves had a breakthrough performance with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He had an averaging 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game while maintaining impressive shooting percentages of 53% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc, and 86% from the free-throw line. Reaves established himself as the third-best player on the Lakers" roster, alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Following his success with the Lakers, Reaves carried his momentum into the summer as a member of Team USA.

Consequently, Reaves signed a new contract with the Lakers this offseason, potentially keeping him in Los Angeles until 2027.

Looking ahead, Reaves and the Lakers will commence their 2023-24 NBA season with a game against the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets, on Tuesday, October 24th.
