The fans are highly devoted to their team and games and the seasons have quite an anticipation rate not only in the US but globally.
However, there is positive support from the fans, relentlessly going to the players and teams and there is also another side where people love to hate-watch.
The decision can be swapped quite quickly in the league due to the nature of the sport. There are always things the players or the teams do or say that irritate the fans in the wrong way and they take an opposition to the said player or team. The league has seen such incidences for a long time as well.
LeBron James, one of the legendary players of the NBA who is still active, is one such name who has garnered hate and criticism from the fans. Much earlier in his professional career, James made some predictions that haven’t come true yet.
The player, upon graduating from high school, had also dubbed himself the “King.” He was already finding it challenging to live up to the title. Despite his large physique, James entered the league grumbling and losing lightly.
The thirteen-time NBA All-Star, Kevin Durant has collected hate from the supporters as he left the Oklahoma City Thunder and joined the already stacked Golden State Warriors.
Subsequently, the Warriors went on to win the championship and became one of the strongest teams in the league. His decision to leave the Thunder and join the Warriors came at a cost for him, as the fans were sure he would join the Thunder, hence garnering hate for his upright decisions. Since then, Durant has changed teams as well.
Bill Laimbeer, known as “The Darth Vader of the NBA,” was a mainstay of Detroit Pistons teams for more than a decade, and he was a terrific rebounder and defender. His playoff battles against the Chicago Bulls and Jordan were well remembered by the fans. His style of play had garnered enough attention during those times.
Vince Carter is another name that comes up among those players who have collected a lot of hate in their professional careers. Carter’s name started receiving hate from devotees when he started playing less for his team, the Toronto Raptors. He opted for a trade and went on to the New Jersey Jets.
Other players who had garnered a lot of attention, which was often on the negative and hate side, were Isiah Thomas, Bruce Bowen, Latrell Sprewell, Chris Paul, James Harden, and Reggie Miller.
