The thought process behind running onto a field/court during a live sports event will never make sense. What’s the purpose? Do people really expect to be able to try something like this and not face repercussions? What was this fan expecting to happen when he decided to run onto the field during Game 2 of the NLCS between the Philadelphia Phillies and Arizona Diamondbacks?

With the Phillies now just two games away from their second consecutive World Series appearance, fans are clearly excited and eager to get their shot at redemption after coming up short last season.
This Phillies fan was clearly in good spirits after watching his favorite team defeat the Diamondbacks 10-0 in an important playoff game and decided to storm the field as a way of celebration. Shortly thereafter, security chased him down and slammed the fan to the ground. While it seemed like a harmless moment of fandom, it is great to see security act and respond quickly in instances like this.
In the 10-0 rout over the Diamondbacks, the Phillies were led by Kyle Schwarber, who hit two solo home runs in three plate appearances. Catcher J.T. Realmuto was 2-for-4 from the plate, batting in three runs in the process. Phillies starting pitcher Aaron Nola pitched six scoreless innings, allowing only three hits and striking out seven batters in the process.
Game 3 of the NLCS is scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 19, when the series heads to Arizona.
