The Las Vegas Aces became the first squad to win two consecutive championships in twenty-one years, an accomplishment last carried out by the Los Angeles Sparks in 2001–2002.
The Aces are the 3rd team to win consecutive WNBA titles, joining Comets (1997-2000) and Sparks (2001-02).

The Aces’ ability to prevail in an intense game despite being far from optimally healthy was arguably the most astounding aspect of their determination. Wilson’s squad was already without starting players Kiah Stokes and Chelsea Grey in addition to Candace Parker.

The last seconds of the game came to Courtney Vandersloot as she missed the point during the score 69-70. According to ESPN, Wilson shared her sentiments about the game and said, “It’s not easy, as you know. This is what it’s all about,”
“Not a lot of people get to do it. To be short-handed and win is amazing. It makes the win that much better. It’s hard to get back to the Finals to win again.”
Alysha Clark, further said, “We’ve been facing adversity all season, playing without different players. … We have some professional fighters,”
“To weather the storm of everything we went through, to show up every single day. To be in this moment right now and do it together, it speaks volumes about us, our chemistry.”
New York Libert’s head coach, Sandy Brondello, also said, “It’s a play we’ve ran before, get the ball to Stewie’s hand,”
“Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. We got it where we wanted to, but didn’t make it.”
Breanna Stewart the star of the Liberty expressed, “I think they were throwing whatever defense they had at us and make sure it’s ugly,”
“Sometimes we lost our flow and ball movement.”
