“This is Gardner’s team and we’ve got a ton of confidence,” Colts head coach Shane Steichen is excited to see Minshew step up a starting QB after Richardson injury

The Colts have turned to 2019 draft pick and quarterback Gardener Minshew in the wake of the injury that ended the season of Anthony Richardson.

Indianapolis head coach Shane Steichen confirmed Minshew is the team’s number one QB for the remainder of the season. This after Richardson went in for shoulder surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

“This is Gardner’s team and we’ve got a ton of confidence in Gardner and his abilities moving forward and this offense, the defense, and special teams. We’ve got a great opportunity this week to go against the Browns and go compete.”

The Colts will be looking to reignite their season and may have to change their offense play slightly as Minshew and Richardson bring different skillsets.

“That being said, we’re 3-3 right now, excited for the opportunity ahead of us, have everything we want in front of us so just go out and try to win one game at a time.”

The 178th overall pick four years ago has been with the Jaguars and the Eagles before settling in Indianapolis this year.

He has 76 career pass completions and a passer rating of 91.5.

He will have to lead from the front as the Colts look to a decent mid campaign before a tilt at playoffs.
