Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are buying into Alpine F1 team, join major sports and movie celeberties in consortium

Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes are reported to be investors in the Alpine F1 team.

Formula 1 is growing in popularity in the US, with the United States Grand Prix set to blast off in Austin this weekend.

Red bull team principal Christian Horner said that the races are becoming so popular that even Taylor Swift would battle to get a paddock pass. Seven years ago, Swift was a headliner at the state side F1 to draw in fans.

Maybe Kelce is buying up shares to get his gal inside access.

“I think everybody can see the appeal,” Mahomes said Wednesday. “I’ve been able to get to a couple races now, seeing the environment, and then obviously watching the (Formula 1:) Drive to Survive on Netflix you see how competitive it is,” the Superbowl winning QB continued.

Alpine is one of 10 teams that compete globally and Mahomes wants in on the action.

Any time you get an opportunity to get in on that, I mean I’m as competitive as anyone can get, so hopefully it can open up to some great opportunities and we are able to go to some of those races and have a little stake in the game.”

The investor group includes the who’s who of sport with heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua, golfer Rory McIlroy and Liverpool soccer star Trent Alexander-Arnold also part of the consortium.

Actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, who have dabbled in English soccer are also said to be involved in acquiring a 24% stake in Alpine. Imagine how starry-eyed Netflix fans will be in the latest instalment of the popular docu-series.
