Darren “Karen” Rovell Tries to Cancel Dabo Swinney for Joke, Gets Backlash

Sports aficionado Darren “Karen” Rovell attempted to take advantage of the head coach of Clemson Tigers Football, Dabo Swinney for the way he phrased a lighthearted joke.

The Clemson Tigers recently lost to the Miami Hurricanes and the score was 28-20.

So, in the wake of the loss, head coach Swinney was asked about the game in a post-match video. When he was asked about the current status of Clemson’s football team, Swinney gave a neutral remark.

As per OutKick, he expressed his thoughts lightheartedly when he was asked about whether the squad had been using a psychologist, as the team does need them to help cope with the players in a positive manner and move ahead.

Swinney expressed, “We’ve got one. He’s probably on suicide watch right now,”

While the reporters present laughed along with Swinney, Rovell was horrified by Swinney’s remark.

Rovell, however, focused on Swinney’s comments and criticized him for his comments, which, according to him, were insensitive and offensive.

Rovell took to Platform X, and posted, “This is language we can’t have major (or any for that matter) head coaches using when we are amidst a mental health & suicide crisis,”

According to OutKick, Rovell also tagged an account for mental health awareness. People with good judgment or an understanding of humor appeared not to be offended by anything in Swinney’s remark.

Rovell’s support of mental health may shock many, as during COVID, he was at the forefront and gleefully promoted lockdowns and postponed sporting events.

Lockdowns have been shown to negatively impact the mental health of American youth, yet Rovell continues to attack Swinney in an attempt to appear morally superior.
