“He played the rest of the game and he played at a really high level,” Eagles HC Nick Sirianni When Asked About QB Jalen Hurts’ Knee Injury

The Philadelphia Eagles pulled out an impressive victory over the red-hot Miami Dolphins on Sunday Night Football in Week 7. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts had a great performance but is worse for wear after suffering a knee injury during the game.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni downplayed the injury in his postgame comments when he addressed the media. “He played the rest of the game and he played at a really high level… There’s nobody else I’d rather have as our quarterback. He’s tough,” Sirianni stated.

Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Hurts finished the game with a knee brace and was visibly hobbled after the game as he was jogging off the field.

Hurts outdueled his former college teammate, Tua Tagovailoa, to help the Eagles advance to 6-1. The two played at Alabama together in 2017 and 2018 before Tagovailoa usurped the starting quarterback position from Hurts and the latter transferred to the University of Oklahoma.

Hurts completed 23 of his 31 pass attempts for 279 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. He also ran for 21 yards and a rushing touchdown on 11 carries.

Hurts’ status needs to be monitored throughout the week and his practice reps are assuredly going to be limited this week. The Eagles travel to Washington in Week 8 to face their divisional rival Commanders.

If Hurts is unable to play in Week 8, the Eagles will have to look to backup quarterback Marcus Mariota to make a spot start. Mariota signed with the Eagles this offseason after being the starting quarterback of the Atlanta Falcons for much of the 2022 season.
